"Renew hope and rebirth from light" 2024 Nigeria Cataract Care Project Record -- Sponsored by the Consulate General of the People's Republic

Recently, the "Light up hope, bright rebirth" cataract care project was successfully implemented in Edo State, Nigeria. The project was initiated and sponsored by the Consulate General of China in Lagos, and Yongxing Company of Nigeria was honored to participate as a co-organizer. Since October 21, 2024, cataract patients in Edo State have begun to receive comprehensive screening. Under the intensive and orderly arrangement, more than 1,000 patients with eye diseases were screened in the Edo State Specialist Hospital alone, and the first batch of 60 patients were identified for free surgical treatment. Subsequently, the project continued to advance at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) site, successfully completing surgical treatment for 175 adults and 22 children, benefiting a total of 250 patients, including 40 children. The Chinese Consulate General in Lagos adheres to the purpose of "promoting the connection between the two peoples" and thoroughly implements the "Belt and Road" initiative. Through this charity project, it has brought substantial help to cataract patients in Nigeria. At the project launch ceremony, Nigeria Yongxing Company, the Consulate General in Lagos and official government agencies in the state attended the ceremony, and the ceremony was widely reported by local media. As a co-organizer, Nigeria Yongxing Company participated in the screening, organization and free clinics in orphanages and blind schools throughout the process. The company adheres to the corporate development philosophy of "satisfying the society and achieving win-win results with the local community", and is well aware that giving back to the society is the most essential responsibility of the company. During the project promotion process, the efforts of each participant have converged into a warm current, warming every patient who has regained his sight. An elderly patient said excitedly after the operation: "The Chinese government came to us like an angel and gave me the opportunity to see my family and life again. I will always remember this kindness." Such gratitude was conveyed to every participant, and also strengthened the determination of Nigeria Yongxing Company to continue to support public welfare. As of today, the project is nearing completion, but Yongxing Nigeria will continue to maintain close communication and exchanges with the hospital and provide necessary help and support. In the future, the company will continue to pay attention to and support Nigeria's public welfare undertakings and fulfill its social responsibilities with practical actions.

This "Light up Hope, Bright Rebirth" cataract care project not only brings light and hope to cataract patients in Nigeria, but also deepens the friendship and cooperation between China and Nigeria.
